Academy players?

Watching Chelsea last week who have approx 30- 40 youngsters out on loan and not one academy player in the team. Is it worth the investment in youth these days?Look at the top 4 barely any youngsters! So should we close up shop and just buy talent? I feel sorry for the young ins these days.....

All doing pretty well this season from academies, and thats just the top half and without all the Chelsea kids who are mustard

You're only suggesting this because of the effort Sulivan thinks its worth.
A good academy pays for itself even if it isn't producing loads and loads players that are able to automatically step up.

I didn't say give it all up merely asking is it worth the effort these days?We have Johnson I believe in our squad now who is being played out of his normal position,Regarding Chelsea , kdb and maybe Sala they let go?

I was just saying on the transfers thread that it might be a good thing if clubs are forced by the Covid crisis to tighten their belts and focus a bit more on nurturing and promoting home-grown talent.

After the pick up of Rice have always said we should trawl the youth squads of teams like Chelsea that stockpile players.
We missed a trick when Brighton got Lamptey off them

You've probably highlighted one of the most successful academies at producing high level professional footballs as a reason to give it all up?
They make an absolute fortune from it regardless of if their players go on onto the first team.
